As part of the annual excursion, which focused on “future-oriented agriculture and sustainable energy production”, 21 water farmers and advisors from the Soil.Water.Protection.Advisory Service and the Crop Production Department of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Agriculture visited the “EWS Sonnenfeld in Pischelsdorf am Engelbach” agri-photovoltaic plant, which was commissioned in spring 2025, as the first large tour group.

During a presentation at EWS in Munderfing, the group learned all about the special features of the concept of dual use of grassland and arable land for “electricity and food from the farm” and the requirements for the approval and construction of an EWS Sonnenfeld.

During the subsequent visit to the Sonnenfeld Pischelsdorf am Engelbach, the participants were able to get a practical impression of it. A large number of technical questions were discussed intensively.

An area of at least 5 hectares in size should not be a problem. Will it be suitable for agricultural photovoltaics?
I hope so and will do the "area check"!
